So, lets start this blog off with a bit of honesty. I have been homesick, and have been having a hard time adjusting to being so far away from everyone in my life as of late. I think I am at a pivotal point in the trip where I decide what I want to make this trip about...today I got my answer. Not a minute too late or a minute too soo. God has a funny and glorious way of handling things. As I was telling a friend today, my day started off not so well. I was frustrated about some things, a tad bit tired, was feeling homesick, and just had a bad outlook on things. And that was a not a good thing considering we were gonna be out and about the city of Florence from the morning till about 6:30 at night.
The day progressed, and I just hung on to the ebb and flow of the day's events...which were actually quite exciting. I got to see the actual tomb of Michaelangelo, and yes his body was inside. That was a surreal moment.
Anyway, 3 museums later, and two very tired feet and ten very angry toes later, we went on a hike to Michaelangelo's Piazza, which provides a birds eye view of the entire city of Florence. We had our lit class up there which included poetry and an inspiring discussion. God got ahold of me in those moments and shook me loose from my tangled web of stress and emotion. He held me close and showed me the beauty of His creation. It was a CLEAR reminder that He is the most perfect artist and the greatest fulfilment of my heart and soul and life.
After much time spent perched above the city, Cait and I headed back to the Hotel. As a side note to all who know me as a directionally challenged person,I got us from one side of the city to the other without any trouble. I am becoming quite adept at directions. YAY, finally!
Anyway, on the back we enjoyed light streaming through big white puffy clouds against the clear blue sky. We took lots of photos, don't worry :~) As we got closer to our hotel we stopped by a Kebab place that serves basically california burritos done Indian style...it was unique but so yummy. Just what we needed after a long day. Besides the amazing Gnocchi pasta I had last night this was a memorable meal for me in Florence. The workers were also very friendly, which was nice.
As I lay/sit here blogging I am amazed at the shift in my perspective throughout the day.God is the best pep-talker in the world for me :~) All I needed was Him today, and He was undeniably there
Off to Pisa and Cinque Terra tomorrow for yet another LONG but exhilirating day. I have come to truly prize sleep. And my body is grateful for it!!! Pray that I stay healthy, because a lot of the Euroterm group has been feeling under the weather lately and I really don't want to have a turn with it. No thank you!
We leave for Rome on Tuesday. Please keep me in your prayers. They are sooooo very appreciated! I love you all!
Ciao,
<3 Meg
