People are so different...each and every one of them. They all think differently, interpret differently, and act differently. With how unique everyone is, it's no wonder getting to know another person can be quite the complicated business. How much work is too much work by the way? If you are truly meant to have a friendship with someone should it always be easy, or are some things really worth working for/waiting for? I am learning this lesson currently. I am also realizing I give too much and expect too little. A very good and very bad thing depending on who is doing the recieving.
Anyway, I am doing well. Paris is better than I could have expected. It is beautiful, and romantic, and special in every sense of the word. The more I see of it the more I am surprised at what it has to offer. It's like opening a can of worms, but in a good way. I think I will have had quite the fill by the time I leave in November. By the way...I am more than half way through already! 47 days until I am headed home. My oh my how time flies. I am appreciating my time here, but the thought of Christmas cheer and the comfort of home awaiting me, makes my return home sound quite sweet and exciting. I am getting to experience the best of both worlds.
I have discovered my favorite part of Paris: Montmartre. The place where Van Gogh,Picasso, Renoir, and other masters have found themselves relaxing and discussing their art at small cafes, is the same place I have found my heart and feet leading me to.
Our Euroterm group is able to go out once a week for a nice dinner, and Montmartre was chosen. We ate at a restaurant called Chez Eugene...Eugene definitely planned that one! The food was yummy, and the atmosphere is what I imagined a Paris restaurant to be like. Lights, color, aroma, and romantic songs in French being sung as people gather for an enjoyable meal. They experience the presence of one another and flatter their palettes with French Cuisine....The Parisians know how to dine with style.
If you ever visit Paris, go to Montmartre at night with someone you love. It will be a time to remember (wow, I am channeling Rick Steves right now..goodness).
What other lessons am I learning right now? Flip flops are not acceptable in actual winter weather unless you are trying to lose some toes. I went out the other night for church in my pink flip flops, and I soon realized my toes were not going to retain their warmth for long. An Arizona girl in Paris for winter? That is a bad combo, because I am unprepared for what winter truly is like :~)
Well, I need to get some homework accomplished right now...cause believe it or not I AM taking some classes while I am over here too ;~)
Sorry I haven't written in so long. I'll try harder to keep ya'll updated! oooh, the French would cringe at me saying ya'll...hehe. I'm gonna say it anyway!!!!!!
In Paris,
Meg
