Versailles+The Fray+Salon du Chocolat=BLISS!

Where to even begin? So much has happened since last I blogged and updated you all! Bear with me, my descriptions as a warning, may include "LOVE!" "AMAZING!!" and "WOW!!!" Just to warn you. I may or may not act as a kid visiting Disneyland for the first time, and being shown around personally by Mickey Mouse, and eating cotton candy and ice cream to my hearts desire...Yes, these past few events have been just that good. They have been made of the stuff of only my wildest dreams. Fantasy now equals reality? SINCE WHEN?

"Let them Eat Cake!" For those of you that have seen Marie Antoinette,Sophia Copola's version (I hope I spellled that all correctly) this line probably sounds pretty familar. This was a mistranslation, she originally said "Let them eat the scrapings from the over." Change our view at all? Marie Antionette was a woman who understood class and etiquette, but a woman who also wanted everything, and everything her way. Until Marie Antoinette Versailles had remained untouched and unaltered in every way. But after marrying Louis the 16th, grandson of the initiator of Versailles, Louis the 14th, she took charge a bit. Perfumed sheep anyone?

With all the grandeur of Versailles I had heard about, I was not surprised at it's over the top glitter and gold. Talk about wealth being put to use in a big way!At one point I used the word gawdy. Within the palace itself I think the term is perfectly accurate. Elaborate detailing, large chandeliers, and lush fabrics, and famous paintings galore.

The gardens of Versailles were gorgeous, perfectly manicured, and lovingly and meticulously tended to. Cait and myself spent the majority of the day wandering around and discovering all that was to be had. We made it too late to Marie Antoinette's garden and house so a second trip to Versailles is in store...!

Alright, so on to the Fray concert! So earlier in the day I went with my Euroterm group for the first time to the Louvre, and I got to meet Mona Lisa! She was mysterious just as I had expected, and larger than I was expecting too. Not huge, but a medium sized painting. She was surrounded by crowds, so I hope at a later visit to the Louvre I will catch her when she has less of an audience. It was a moment to remember though!

Cait, Aubrey and myself left the Louvre rather quickly in order to make it to The International, where the Fray was performing a Secret, Free show. They were only allowing in the first 200 hundred people, so I was very worried that getting there only 2 hours before the concert would mean I wasn't getting in, but I did! When we got to the venue there were only 10 or so people there! I WAS SOOOO HAPPY! I called my mom and my brother to tell them the news. The Fray is my favorite band, so to see them in Paris, in an intimate setting, and for free is basically a dream come true!

We waited outside for over 2 hrs, almost froze to death (I was chattering and shaking...), but at the end of those two hours we got to meet Isaac(lead singer) and take pictures with him, and then go in and get spots for the show! I was about one person away from the stage...my heart was literally bursting with excitement...!

They performed for about an hour, and they did such a wonderful job. They always sound better live than on their CD's which says something about them...lots of talent! My favorite part of the concert was getting to have eye contact with Isaac while he performed as well as him dedicating and singing the song "Happiness" to his wife. It was so sincere, and it makes me dream of such a sincere and loving relationship.

There was a band to follow so they had to leave, otherwise I am sure they would have played more(they said they wanted too...)! I met the guitarist and talked to him for a moment. SO FRIENDLY! I love the Fray for being so open and warm to their fans.

It was an AWESOME AMAZING AND SPECTACULAR EVENING! I could not have dreamt of anything sweeter, a better concert to have gone to in Paris..and it was all for free! EVEN BETTER!

>Okay so the last topic of the blog? Salon du Chocolat, the Chocolate Festival! Cait, Aubrey, John and myself went to this yummy event. We tasted chocolate flavors that I could have only dreamt of: lavender, pepper, strawberry basil, among many many many others. I also tried Rose flavored sorbet. It was so sweet and unusual..We spent the entire day there, and even watched a Chocolate Fashion show. It was a day for the books, but let me tell you, I don't want chocolate for a looooooooooong time! It's been a couple days and it still doesn't sound good! ;~)

Hope you are all swell!

Love you lots and lots and LOTS!

Meg
